Working with BAA, Carter Synergy have led the way with a design solution to meet very exacting environmental and energy requirements for the Clients signing up to some 150 outlets in the terminal.

Due to open in March 2008, T5 construction site is the size of London’s Hyde Park and the terminal building could house 10 football pitches on each of its five floors. With the energy centre located in an industrial “shed” away from the terminal building, services design was always going to be challenge.

The terminal is served with a chill water circuit from four 6.6 MW ammonia chillers delivering water at 6C.

Our solution for the Clients signing up to the outlets was integral water-cooled plant connected into the chill water circuit. In conjunction with CRE cabinets and plant were tested, approved by BAA, and promoted to interested Clients
